چکیده
This paper presents the design and realization of a low power, high speed circuit used to actuate RF MEMS (Radio Frequency MicroElectroMechanical Systems) based phase shifters at 60GHz.The phase shifter are used to realize beam forming reconfigurable antenna for high data rate WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) applications. RF MEMS commonly have high actuation voltages usually obtained with charge pumps. In this paper we presents boost converters as an alternative to the use of charge pumps for actuating RF MEMS in the field of Systems on Chip (SoC).

Modern microwave and millimeter wave phased array antennas are attractive because of their ability to steer wave beams in space without physically moving the antenna element. A typical phased array antenna may have several thousand elements fed by a phase shifter for every antenna, which can steer the resulting array beam to different directions. Their low loss, low cost and lightweight phase s...
متن کاملEquivalent Electrical Circuit for Design- Ing Mems-controlled Reflectarray Phase Shifters
This article presents an equivalent electrical circuit for designing Radio-Frequency MEMS-controlled planar phase shifter. This kind of phase shifters has recently been incorporated in reconfigurable reflectarrays. The proposed equivalent circuit depends on the number, the ON/OFF state and the locations of the switches inside the unit cell. Such equivalent circuit is used for determining, with ...
متن کاملDesign and simulation of a RF MEMS shunt capacitive switch with low actuation voltage, low loss and high isolation
According to contact type, RF MEMS switches are generally classified into two categories: Capacitive switches and Metal-to-Metal ones. The capacitive switches are capable to tolerate a higher frequency range and more power than M-to-M switches. This paper presents a cantilever shunt capacitive RF MEMS switch with characteristics such as low trigger voltage, high capacitive ratio, short switchin...
متن کاملCharacterization and Modeling of Charging Effects in Dielectrics for the Actuation of RF MEMS Ohmic Series and Capacitive Shunt Switches
Charge accumulation in dielectrics solicited by an applied voltage, and the associated temperature and time dependencies are well known in scientific literature since a number of years [1]. The potential utilization of materials being part of a device useful for space applications is a serious issue because of the harsh environmental conditions and the necessity of long term predictions about a...
